Lenovo’s Expanded Line of Consumer PCs Beg the Question: “What’s Your Idea of Fun?” Consumers Find their Perfect PC Match with Lenovo’s Latest Laptop, Desktop and All-in-One Offerings

Pampanga, PHILIPPINES – May 27, 2010: Lenovo (HKSE: 0992) (ADR: LNVGY) today expanded its lineup of consumer and SOHO/SMB laptop, desktop, and all-in-one (AIO) PCs with exciting new designs and technologies that make computing more enjoyable and affordable.

Lenovo’s latest IdeaPad and IdeaCentre PCs offer something for everyone, with clever features that inspire fun and creativity, and a complete range of form factors and designs that fit specific consumer needs. The new models include the IdeaPad Z460 affordable multimedia notebook, IdeaPad U460 ultraportable laptop, the IdeaPad V460 small business laptop, the Lenovo B460 small business and home office laptop and the ThinkPad Edge 14” laptop. Also announced are the IdeaCentre A300 stylish multimedia AIO and the first ThinkCentre all-in-one desktop for business – the ThinkCentre A70z.

“In the less than three years since Lenovo launched its worldwide Idea brand of PCs, we have expanded our consumer footprint to more than 85 countries, firmly establishing our presence in the consumer PC market," said Michael Ngan, Country Manager, Home and Small Business, Lenovo Philippines . "Lenovo's consumer business recently achieved 89 percent year-over-year growth, outpacing the competition. The latest additions to the Idea portfolio demonstrate Lenovo’s commitment to leading the consumer market with stylish, feature-packed PCs that make computing more fun for all.”

Style and Entertainment To Go

Lenovo’s IdeaPad laptop PCs, the Z series and U series, are designed for consumers whose idea of fun is living life on the go and desire a laptop with features that can keep up with their exciting lifestyle.

The most recent addition to the IdeaPad family, the Z series, brings mobile multimedia to the masses through a rich, enjoyable entertainment experience at a competitive price point. Starting at just PhP 47,900, the new Z460 is an affordable laptop that comes across as a high-end luxury device, with its fashionable chiclet keyboard encased in a modern hairline and metallic effect cover panel. Users will enjoy watching their favorite movies on the new Z series with its high-definition (HD), 16:9 format widescreen (available in 13.3, 14 and 15.6-inch models), optional Blu-ray Disc™ drive, and Dolby® Advanced Audio for a stunning audio experience. With OneKey™ Theater II, optimized audio-visual settings are enabled at the press of a button, making the Z series great for enjoying videos and multimedia content. The IdeaPad Z360, Z460 and Z560 laptops are available with the all new 2010 Intel® Core™ processor family and NVIDIA® GeForce® graphics, while the IdeaPad Z465 and Z565 are offered with up to AMD Phenom™ II processors and integrated ATI Mobility Radeon™ graphics.

Sleek and stylish, the IdeaPad U460 caters to the fashionista in all of us. It offers ultra-portable, light designs and long battery life to allow travel-loving consumers to stay entertained and in touch no matter where life takes them. The clean and sophisticated appearance of the redesigned U series is made possible by its “U” shaped outline inspired by a closed book lying on its side, while its textured aluminum top cover adds a further touch of style and class to its elegant design.

Measuring less than one-inch thick and 3.8 pounds, the 14-inch U460 can be configured with up to an Intel® Core™ i7 processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology for impressive performance in a thin and light design. The U460 features a standard volt processor.

For staying connected to friends and family while on the move, the U series comes with integrated Wi-Fi and optional 3G connectivity on select models, and a range of features, including an Ambient Light Sensor, Active Protection System and data recovery tools that make these PCs easy and comfortable to use.

Expanded All-in-One Portfolio

Lenovo’s latest IdeaCentre A300 AIO is perfect for individuals or families that enjoy the powerful performance of traditional desktop PCs but desire the fun and useful features of an AIO design such as touch screen capabilities, HD monitor and a streamlined appearance.

With an elegant asymmetrical design that conceals the PC in its base instead of conventionally having the PC behind the screen, the industry’s thinnest all-in-one A300 has a depth of just 18.5mm for its 21.5” Full HD LED panel.

The IdeaCentre A300 features the unique Lenovo Enhanced Experience certification that delivers an optimized boot and shutdown process, rich multimedia capabilities and easy system maintenance tools. With up to Intel® Core™2 Duo processors, the A300 comes with fun applications for a TV-like experience, including CamSuite software for enhanced facial tracking and image effects via the desktop’s integrated web camera. Standard accessories include wireless Bluetooth® keyboard and mouse for more comfortable computing in the living room, and it supports HDMI in/out for connecting to other High-Definition devices like a TV. The A300 also includes integrated high-speed 802.11n Wi-Fi and Lenovo Rescue System software to quickly and easily recover data if a document is lost or becomes corrupt.

Functionality and Affordability

The IdeaPad V460 14-inch is designed for small office and home-based businesses or the 1-9 segment of the SMB market. The V460 comes with Switchable Graphics that lets users switch between performance modes for longer battery life, and OneKey Rescue System for quick and easy data recovery with anti-virus protection. It also include a fingerprint reader for additional security. With their cool-to-the-touch metallic finish and all new 2010 Intel® Core™ Processors, they are designed to look and deliver the business.

Essential PC for Work and Play

Lenovo today also announced a new model within its essential brand of affordable home computers – the Lenovo B460. Lenovo’s essential family of laptop and desktop PCs are intended for consumers who want the latest technology, including multimedia and security features, for use at the office or while relaxing at home.

The 14-inch, B460 laptop for small office and home business users offers a worry free and high value computing experience at a low cost. The B460 is equipped with up to the Intel® Core™ i5 processor, up to NVIDIA® GeForce® 310M 512MB graphics and up to 8GB DDR3 memory so users can blaze through tasks during the workday and videos and games during downtime. For greater peace of mind that data on the laptop is safe and secure, the B460 includes Lenovo’s Security Suite with key features like Active Protection System, OneKey™ Rescue System, fingerprint reader and USB-Port Locker.

SMB Performance Gets New Edge

The ThinkPad Edge 14” is designed specifically for the small to medium sized business (SMB). The laptop reflects a new progressive and strikingly clean appearance while retaining ThinkPad durability and reliability. For example, the laptops include spill-resistant keyboards and value-added ThinkVantage Technologies like the Active Protection System and Rescue and Recovery.

SMBs “are a 24 x 7 business,” and their PC technology reflects their personal brand. Lenovo designed the ThinkPad Edge Series specifically to give these customers stylish and eye-catching designs with high performance, reliability and the latest technologies

Business AIO To Save Space, Time and Money

Built for the needs of small and medium businesses (SMB) all the way up to large corporations, the ThinkCentre A70z AIO delivers a compelling alternative to the traditional desktop PC, starting at just Php 40,000.  Despite the budget-friendly price tag, the high performance all in one comes with Intel Core2Duo processors and delivers blazing fast boot up time as one of Lenovo’s Enhanced Experience certified PCs for Windows 7. The ThinkCentre A70z saves 70 percent more space, takes less time to set up and service and consumes less power than traditional desktops. At the same time, the AIO adds a new touch of style and sophistication for today’s modern office.

The compact ThinkCentre A70z includes a 19 inch, 16:10 widescreen LCD monitor packed into a 2.4 inch black frame that complements just about any office environment. On a desk, the AIO takes up 70 percent less space than a traditional desktop and monitor. It can also be mounted flush against an office wall, supported with a radial stand or rested against a leg stand similar to how a picture frame works. The AIO’s single power cable helps eliminate unsightly cable clutter that plagues office desk space, and the built-in handle on the back of the monitor makes transporting easy.

Pricing and Availability

All of the PCs will be available through www.lenovo.com. The ThinkCentre A70z is now available at PhP 40,000. The ThinkPad Edge 14” will be available by end May at PhP 40,000. The Lenovo B460, IdeaPad V460, IdeaPad Z460 and IdeaCentre A300 will be available in June at PhP 30,000, PhP 38,000, PhP 47,900 and PhP 47,900, respectively.

THE TERRAPOD EXPERIENCE NOW IN THE PHILIPPINES

Mr. Marc Soong, Executive Director of LRPhils Motors Inc. (the sole authorized distributor of Land Rover vehicles in the Philippines) together with the Land Rover Club of the Philippines headed by their President - Atty. Robby Consunji, introduced the TERRAPOD, a mobile off-road track that showcases the breadth and depth of the current Land Rover vehicles in a safe, and controlled environment. Engineered here in the Philippines based on the design of the Terrapod used in the U.K., it demonstrates the supreme capabilities of the whole Land Rover line – Defender, Freelander 2, Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover. “We wanted to bring the extreme 4x4 experience of a Land Rover to our clients without them going through the hassle of going out of town. Aside from that the Terrapod has made this experience a family affair where children even their grandparents can experience the capabilities of our Land Rover vehicles together” exclaimed Mr. Wellington Soong, Chairman and President of LRPhils Motors Inc.

The Terrapod has 4 different obstacles, each highlights the different capabilities of the vehicle:

the SLIDE SLOPE, shows the stability of Land Rover vehicles when engaged in a 25 degrees incline; the WALKING HOLES exhibits the vehicle’s ability to transfer power into the wheels that has the most traction and its best-in-class air suspension system; the UP and OVER, a 30 degree slope up and down, highlights the excellent terrain response system and its dynamic stability control settings, hill descent control, class leading approach and departure angles; the SEE-SAW proves the chassis strength of all the Land Rover vehicles. It tests the driver’s driving skill, balance of the vehicle and Land Rover’s advanced off-road systems.

“We always talk about what our cars can do... the Terrapod brings first-hand experience of Land Rover’s off-road supremacy to everyone” said Mr. Marc Soong.

BAGONG SONY XPERIA x10 NASA PINAS NA

MANILA, Philippines , March 26, 2010 –Sony Ericsson has announced the commercial availability of its new flagship phone, the much-awaited Xperia™ X10 starting tomorrow. The phone is Sony Ericsson’s first handset to run on Google’s new Android OS, and creates a uniquely Sony Ericsson user experience with several entertainment features and signature applications.

Among these are Timescape™ and Mediascape, two new exclusive applications that connect users to all recent communications through the phone’s Infinite button.

Sony Ericsson’s Timescape™ brings together all of the user’s recent mobile communication in chronological order onto one screen. This creates the most convenient way to manage communications simply and effectively. Timescape™ lets users quickly access a 3D scrolling menu for easy viewing and organization of the latest SMS messages, emails, social network updates, photos, music and calls all in one place. Just tap to preview or go to full view.

In Timescape™, the Infinite button lets you access all of your mobile communications with one person in one place, whether it’s email, SMS messages, photos, Twitter, MySpace and Facebook™ updates.

Sony Ericsson’s Mediascape, meantime, presents the smart way to get all the music, photos and videos from friends and favorite artists. It accesses content from everywhere, through the phone, and via YouTube™ and presents them to the users. If the Infinite button is pressed, additional multimedia content about the favorite artist or video is collated and presented from the phone’s memory or from YouTube™.

Intelligence capabilities, integrated into Mediascape and Timescape™, can automatically recognize connections between contacts, content and media. By recommending alternative ways to communicate or guiding to new media experiences, consumers can discover more in a truly open way. For example, the new Infinite button guides users through the connected world, aggregating interactions with one person into one view. Intelligent face recognition also recognizes up to five faces in any picture, automatically connecting them with the social phonebook and all other related communications with that person.

The XPERIA™ X10 also features an 8.1 megapixel camera with 16 x digital zoom and a clever face recognition feature that recognizes and tags up to five faces per photo. The image is then automatically filed in date order under each friend’s name.

Heto sila:

1. A rise in attacks originating from file sharing networks. This year, we will see a shift in the types of attacks on users, from attacks via websites and applications toward attacks originating from file sharing networks.

2. An increase in mass malware epidemics via P2P networks. In 2009 a series of mass malware epidemics has been “supported” by malicious files that are spread via file sharing networks. This method has been used to spread notorious threats such as TDSS and Virut as well as the first backdoor for Mac OS X. In 2010, we expect to see a significant increase in these types of incidents on P2P networks.

3. Continuous competition for traffic from cybercriminals. The modern cybercriminal world is making more and more of an effort to legalize itself and there are lots of ways to earn money online using the huge amount of traffic that can be generated by botnets. In the future, we foresee the emergence of more "grey" schemes in the botnet services market. These so-called "partner programs" enable botnet owners to make a profit from activities such as sending spam, performing denial of service (DoS) attacks or distributing malware without committing an explicit crime.

4. A decline in fake anti-virus programs. The decline in gaming Trojans witnessed in 2009 is likely to be repeated for fake anti-virus programs in 2010. Conficker installed a rogue anti-virus program on infected computers. The fake anti-virus market has now been saturated and the profits for cybercriminals have fallen. Additionally, this kind of activity is now being closely monitored by both IT security companies and law enforcement agencies, making it increasingly difficult to distribute fake anti-virus programs.

5. An interest in attacking Google Wave. When it comes to attacks on web services, Google Wave looks like it will be making all the headlines in 2010. Attacks on this new Google service will no doubt follow the usual pattern: first, the sending of spam, followed by phishing attacks, then the exploiting of vulnerabilities and the spreading of malware.

6. An increase in attacks on iPhone and Android mobile platforms. 2010 promises to be a difficult time for iPhone and Android users. The first malicious programs for these mobile platforms appeared in 2009, a sure sign that they have aroused the interest of cybercriminals. The only iPhone users currently at risk are those with compromised devices; however the same is not true for Android users who are all vulnerable to attack. The increasing popularity of mobile phones running the Android OS combined with a lack of effective checks to ensure third-party software applications are secure, will lead to a number of high-profile malware outbreaks.

Dagdag ni Roel Schouwenberg, Senior Malware Researcher sa Kaspersky Lab “Malware will continue to further its sophistication in 2010 with specific malware families requiring significant resources from anti-malware companies to adequately fight them." Sabi din niya na “Third party program vulnerabilities will continue to be the target of choice by cybercriminals with Adobe continuing to be the main target. And finally I believe that with the introduction of real-time search, black hat SEO and social networks will become an even bigger focus of cybercriminals.”
